10 months together and I’ve gotten it wrong all this time.

We’re the same age, so naturally, I thought that we were on the same page at all levels.

That we were a “partner in crime”. That we are supposed to go through the same things, do things the same way, and have the same future if we’re going to continue being together.

But I stand corrected.

We’re not a partner in crime. Instead, you are my guardian angel.

And you have always been. I’ve just come to realize it now.

We’re not on the same page at any level. We live completely different lives.

We have different career paths.

I was a business student and continue pursuing my career in marketing. I work for startups and I love it. I love my job. I love what I do. I love the place I work at. I am fully aware of the pros and cons of my career path, but I also fully know that I am cut out for it. I know before I got in the game and it hasn’t been proven otherwise in 6 years of me working.

He, on the other hand, was an engineering student. He continues pursuing his career in the IT department for one of the biggest corporations in the country and similar to my job, his job also comes with its own pros and cons. The most important thing is that he loves his job and wants to continue to thrive on it.

The fact on the matter is that we’ll always have different career paths and that is okay.

I come from a good family with some baggage, he lives in a completely normal family.

From the outside, my family looks completely normal, just like every other family. Yet, I’ve experienced a few things that have caused me to be somewhat different from anybody else.

I felt left behind by my brother at the age of 13 which has left me somewhat deeply scarred. I’ve gotten a lot better now and have sought help as well, but that issue has been sharpened throughout the years after that by the way my parents raised me to be a very independent and self-reliant person.
